Multi-factor authentication
Some products require MFA before Compass will hand you a launch code (COMPASS_LOGIN_DESIGN.md §6.1 — PHI-tier products are MFA-mandatory; others recommend it). Setting it up here enrolls you portfolio-wide — you never configure MFA separately in any product.

Scan with an authenticator app (1Password, Authy, Google Authenticator, etc.), or enter the secret manually.
Backup codes
Each code can be used once if you lose access to your authenticator. These are shown only this one time — save them somewhere safe before continuing.
